G’day Gang! Mate, it’s been a bloody long time since I fired up a trial of this game ten years back. Then, I played the Lord of the Rings Online for a total of 30 minutes or so. Glad to fire it back up and in it’s free to play format. Hoping to get a good ten parts into this series.

Make sure to like if you’d like to see more!

Note: This character is played on Gladden US.

Lord of the Rings Online
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings_Online

The Lord of the Rings Online (commonly abbreviated to LOTRO), initially branded as The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) for Microsoft Windows and OS X set in a fantasy universe based upon J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth writings. It takes place during the time period of The Lord of the Rings. It was developed and maintained by Turbine after Jeffrey Anderson secured the rights from Vivendi. However, on December 19, 2016, it was announced that with immediate effect LOTRO would be developed and maintained by Standing Stone Games, a newly created company formed from members of the LOTRO team.

It launched in North America, Australia, Japan, and Europe on April 24, 2007. Originally subscription-based, it is free-to-play, with a paid VIP subscription available that provides players various perks. Four of the more prominent are access to all game regions and content not part of an expansion pack, the ability to swiftly travel between major towns, the removal of the currency cap that would otherwise hamper the economic freedom of a player, and the ability to send currency through the mail system, and make cash-on-delivery payments.

In addition to regular free updates, five expansion packs have been released to date: Mines of Moria in 2008, Siege of Mirkwood in 2009, Rise of Isengard in 2011, Riders of Rohan in 2012, and Helm’s Deep on November 20, 2013. In 2010, the NPD Group reported that the game was “the third most played massively multiplayer role-playing game” with Turbine citing their free-to-play model as the reason for the growing subscriber base.

Welcome to LOTRO!Just to clear up some misconceptions I've seen others have, the color of someone's name tells you how strong they are in comparison to you. Grey (act like you don't exist), green, blue, white (same level), yellow, orange, red, purple (you have no way to kill them) are the ascending order of threat level.Another thing to note is that the F2P is structured more like an unlimited trial/demo. At first, the restrictions aren't a problem, but by the time you get to the last free zone (the Lone Lands), you'll be in the mid 20s, and the constraints will make it clear that you'll either have to subscribe or pony up in the in-game store. The game's certainly a fun time though in the free areas, so don't worry about it until you think of whether you want to keep going or not.
